God Almighty is described by the Holy Scriptures as the Workman who makes the New Creation Man as His workmanship.
Put differently, God is our manufacturer and his manual says the reason he gave you a mind is to set it on Him [God is Spirit], heaven, and spiritual realities.
Rom 8:6-9 (NASB)
6 For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace,
7 because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so,
8 and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
9 However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.
There is a clear instruction as to what to set our MINDS on but many disobey—not having understanding than thus set their minds on:
📍 the cares and anxieties of the world and of this life including the distractions of the age of this life
📍 the deceitfulness of riches or the seduction of wealth
📍 the pleasure and delight and false glamour of riches
📍 the lusts or the craving and passionate desire for other things
Mar 4:19 (TPT) but they allow the cares of this life and the seduction of wealth and the desires for other things to crowd out and choke the Word so that it produces nothing.
Mar 4:19 (AMPC) Then the cares and anxieties of the world and distractions of the age, and the pleasure and delight and false glamour and deceitfulness of riches, and the craving and passionate desire for other things creep in and choke and suffocate the Word, and it becomes fruitless.
Put simply, some set their minds on news media and much of its lies leading to anxiety, what will we eat, rent, school fees, comparing ourselves with others and coveting, etc. And they may wonder why their lives malfunction and do not operate at optimum. If you want a product to operate at its optimum, then follow the manufacturers guidelines—set your minds on the right things!
Php 4:8 (TPT) So keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising him always.
Php 4:8-9 (AMPC)
8 For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them].
9 Practice what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and model your way of living on it, and the God of peace (of untroubled, undisturbed well-being) will be with you.
We must not void His warranty—not make His grace of no effect. We can make it vain although we have His Holy Ghost inside us.
Gal 2:21 (AMPC) [Therefore, I do not treat God's gracious gift as something of minor importance and defeat its very purpose]; I do not set aside and invalidate and frustrate and nullify the grace (unmerited favor) of God. …
